The August featured painting is entitled Out of the Shadows.  A highly textured beautiful piece that has all the colors I love. It has a mysterious allure due to a large eye and part of a face that is within the piece.

While painting Out of the Shadows I wanted to convey the journey of adult life.  The part of the journey which carries us from where we are to where we are going.  This process is comprised of many adventures.  Some of the adventures are complicated situations we are forced to work through.  Some of the adventures are celebrations and triumphs we choose to share with others.  

In the beginning of our adult lives, we tend to be in the background.  We are busy observing,  learning, watching and waiting. During this time it is accepted to listen, while others speak; walk, while others run.  Be perplexed, while others offer solutions.  

This quiet and observant space in our lives is an important component.  It provides the space for growth to occur. It may at times be uncomfortable and a bit frustrating.  But as we continue to live our lives and acquire more knowledge; our time will come.

The time to step Out of the Shadows.
