Personalize your Sketchbooks

Hello Friends,

Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite things. My Sketchbooks. Over the years I have collected many sketchbooks. Some large, some small, some good, and some not so good. Early in my art career, I’m not sure I realized the importance of sketchbooks. But when I became a full time artist and began painting everyday; I soon found out how extremely important and invaluable they are. An artist’s sketchbook is the central place where we gather our creative thoughts and plan our next body of work.

More on that in future blog posts. . .

One of the first things I do when I get a new sketchbook is personalize it.  I use acrylic markers, ink, and metallic pens. Some artists use collage papers and fabrics.  After I draw or paint on it, I feel that it becomes mine.  Only then is it ready to be filled with my ideas.

Here are a few examples of sketchbooks that I have personalized to make them MINE.

Aren’t they beautiful? Just another way to:

FALL IN LOVE WITH ART AGAIN

Until next time.
